catching up

I know I know... I'm way behind on blogging. but in all fairness, i've been really busy! Plus my beloved computer decided to die. It's now in the shop for the next week while they try and figure out what is wrong with it, and if it's even possible or worth it to repair it... I'm not sure what is wrong, but i do know it's something bad, and serious, and most like expensive. ugh, perfect timeing, 1 week before school is done! luckily i had warning signs, and had copied everything to my external drive the night before. my plan was to try and re-format the hard drive the next day to see if it would help. well, i have no idea if it would have helped because the computer refussed to let me do it, and then proceeded to only give me a screen of jumbled random text when i turned it on. This is just the last, and fatel step of a long list of things that have gone bad with my computer in the past few months.

But, to my rescue came one of my profs (one of the only good things at my school) who immediatly upon hearing about my computer offered to let me borrow one of his laptops that he doesnt use. So once again ive got a computer at home.

The past few weeks have been extremely busy, so much to do for school, and lots of flash projects to work on. I have taken a couple break though, the first being a trip up to Colico with Carole and Annika (from ExPats), and the second being when a couple friends from Macerata came up to visit me for 2 days this past week! Yes, I've got photos, but they're all on my external which isnt hooked up right now. So those will be uploaded later, along with more detailed descriptions (including Luca getting lost in Milan without his cell phone, and our journey to find him).

In more recent news, I've only got a few days of school left! 3 more classes this week, a presentation Monday, and another presentation the following Monday and then I'm all done! Wohoo! After which it will be a quick trip to Macerata for a few days before getting back up to Milan in time to catch my flight to the states. I really cant believe that 3 weeks from now I'll be in Virgina. It's going to go by like it was nothing! Really though, I'm having a hard time comprehending it. It just doesnt seem like a reality. I'm sure it'll probably hit me after I've been there for a month.

Oh, I've also just bought La Verità del Ghiaccio (The truth of the ice) the newest Dan Brown (author of Davinci Code) book. I havent read a book all year, as I wanted the next book I read to be in Italian. Well, it finally is. I just bought it yesterday so I'm only about 25 pages into it, but it's going good so far. I dont know the meaning of every word, but I'm able to figure out the idea from context and have yet to use the dictionary. It's a bit slower than reading in English, but I'm happy with the rate I'm going. I also really like his writing, and although this seems to have the same basic plot as Angels and demons & The Davinci Code, I still think it'll be good. Another one of my profs was reading it and said he really liked it, so we'll see how it pans out. Probably wont get it done before I get back to the states, too much to do here to sit around all day reading. But who knows, I got a couple of longer train rides and a flight coming up, so I may just be able to get through it :D

That's all for now, it's way too hot in my room (where the internet is) to hang out here any longer writing. Maybe once it cools down some tonight and if I find the time I can get those photos posted.

heya

yes, it's the same book! I didnt realize that it had been out for so long. But in Italy it was fairly newly released. weird that they changed the name so much! who knows what those crazy italians are thinking though. :D I actually just finished reading it a few days ago, really liked it. I do want to go back through and read it in English though eventually. Think I need to wait awhile though so the story isnt as fresh in my mind. Will be interesting to see how well I understood the Italian. I never did use a dictionary, although there were many words I didnt know the precise meaning of, I always figured out the idea from context....
